A Moment of Totality #
On April 8, 2024, the sky over the American Midwest darkened in the middle of the day. For just a few minutes the sun disappeared. Completely blocked by the moon casting our cities, towns, and farms into an eerie twilight. It was the first total solar eclipse visible across the region since 2017, and for many of us, it was the first time witnessing totality with our own eyes.
The Experience #
It was surreal witnessing the sudden darkness, the rapid drop in temperature, and the silencing of bird as the eclipse reached its peak.
Below are some photos I took during the experience.

Looking Ahead #
I was fortunate enough to be within driving distance. If you have not had the opportunity and it presents itself I would highly recommend taking in this amazing phenomenon. I would love to travel to Iceland in 2026 for the next eclipse near the United States.
If you missed this one. The next total solar eclipse in the continental U.S. will occur in 2044, and again in 2045, with the latter having a notably long duration. But nothing compares to seeing one with your own eyes.
